Should we or should we not refer to what is happening in Gaza as ‘genocide’ and should we recognise Palestine without further delay? It’s Time
I assured them that the European Parliament would press for this. I promised that France would recognise Palestine. I expressed my hope that she would not do so alone. Perhaps I spoke too boldly too soon, but I did so because it is time.

One of his reasons is domestic politics. Benjamin Netanyahu came to the aid of the Syrian Druze because the Druze in Israel are patriots, often serving in the security forces, and the Prime Minister felt he had to show his gratitude by defending their cousins across the border.
